Emily Lamont, M.A., National Board Certified Teacher, has over 15 years experience in education as a teacher of Secondary English Language Arts. She has spent all of these years extensively working with students as an academic mentor and college essay coach. As a teacher, she worked with hundreds of students from all academic levels and backgrounds from students with learning differences to AP students to coach them in the process of writing their college essays. When it came time in her classes for her senior students to write their Common Application personal statements, she noticed the stress and anxiety it caused them. Because of this, she built a curriculum of writing workshops that would help her students develop their voices and present their most authentic selves through their writing. Emily’s passion for bringing out her students’ excellency makes her especially gifted at taking the fear and stress out of the college essay writing process.  Building relationships with her students through compassion and a bit of humor is the foundation of her success.
